Hi, it's SalsaSam! Hope you're enjoying your Salsa experience so far...
With the new 2011 year coming along, we should be thankful for all the good things we've had in the past. And look forward to new & better things for the year ahead!!
If you haven't heard already, Paradize has been on the decline and after last week's fiasco with no music post-10:30pm and some people demanding their money back, I've decided that enough is eno...ugh and we need a new place we can depend on for Salsa Friday nights.
So until I've confirmed a new place, let's try and give La Bomba another go! (Besides, Paradize cancelled their Friday Salsa night yesterday... and where else can we go?!)
As many of you might remember, I spun during La Bomba's opening week on 18th September, 2010. While some things improved from their opening day #1, a lot of things were severely lacking. Really, really not good. So all of us at Havana Estudio (Sharie, Sam, Aisha, and our students) went down to the ground and got some good feedback about La Bomba, from people who went and people who swore would never go again, especially based on their experience from the past coupla weeks or so.
Today, I met Martin & Simrin. I apologized but had to be very direct with them about what people are saying was missing. They graciously admitted their mistakes and understood all the feedback. They also re-assured me that they & their employees will be constantly going around this Friday night to make sure everything's ok and they get feedback from y'all.
So here's what I got them to do so far:
1. Upgrade their sound system / quality of sound & music,
2. Improve the air conditioning / flow of air,
3. Keep the floors cleaner / nicer to spin,
4. Improve on presentation / quality / quantity of drinks - they're getting their new taller glasses and have instructed their workers to put less ice and more liquid.
5. Improve on lighting (too dark / too bright).
On parking, see my forward of Simrin's email below.
It does take some time to get a good thing going. A lot of people don't remember or were never there when we first got La Rouge, Juanita, Little Havana, Salsabor, the Attic, Frontera, Aliyaa, or even Salsa Havana first started. Let's give them another chance guys!!!

Thanks for all your support. I heard that a lot of people had intention to come after their X'mas Dinners etc but I figured it's more realistic you spend quality time with family, friends, and avoid the KL jam. In the end, the jam wasn't too bad at all and those of us who followed Simrin's directions only got caught the last few hundred metres to the club.
We had a great friendly crowd of about 50 people and about 15-20 couples dancing on the floor at a time. It's truly a wonderful case of Unity through Salsa, especially dancers from all the KL schools (you know who you are) who were just looking for a Salsalicious good time! Special thanks to Emily, Munning, Thana, and Joon for getting the party started with me and Aisha in the early hours! Again, feedback to Martin & Simrin or me and I'll be glad to pass it on...
